P. Frawley

Tom Frawley is considered the oldest the and longest serving publican in Ireland.

The information on this Facebook page indicates that Mr. Frawley retired in 2012 and the pub has closed.

We will be walking past this historic pub each time we make the trip from the Atlantic Hotel to the Lahinch Golf Club and back again, so we should pay tribute to Mr. Frawley who now resides in a local nursing home.

From this blog post, “…it was a simple honest-to-goodness pub that had not changed one iota in decades, its counter manned by the institution that is Tom Frawley. Said to be Ireland’s oldest publican, Tom was in his early 90’s when he decided to close his landmark pub, and Lahinch is a much sadder place without him raising a glass to the height of his head to pull what was always a fantastic pint of stout. Time stood still in Frawley’s, no matter what company you were with”
